Whenever you surf the net, you run the risk of picking up unwanted
software that could explain why your computer
is so slow. This software can be detected if you run a spyware
scan, software providers typically will scan your computer for free.
Adware Problem
If your computer
slows down, it could also be infected by adware acquired when
visiting eg shopping or adult sites. Again, it is worth checking your
PC for unwanted adware.
Fragmented hard disk
My
computer is so slow despite checking for registry problems, spyware
and adware. You could have a fragmented hard disk. Go to 'Accessories',
select 'system tools' and run your defragmenter software.
Too many programs
running 'in the background'
Still my
computer running slow. You may have too many programs running in
the background. Check your start up menu from the program list. Remove
unnecessary programs eg media players.
Not enough hard disk
But my
computer is really slow Remove any programs that you don't use.
Make sure you free up all the disk space you can.
Upgrade computer
If you continue to have a slow
computer you may need to consider an upgrade or new computer.
